Barb
My husband and I started training with Matt Pitzer in August 2012 as part of my Happiness Project for us to become healthier.
I thought I was in decent shape, but Matt had a way of pushing me harder than I pushed myself, and of targeting muscle groups I hadn't worked in a long time. By the week of Thanksgiving, none of my clothing fit, although my wedding dress from 1984 fit perfectly!
Now, seven months later, I have gone from a size 12 to a size 6. I feel strong, and notice I am standing straighter because my core is stronger. I am the same weight as when I got married, but I believe if I would try the wedding dress on today, it would be too large.
I've referred a coworker to Matt who is in his 20s, and he is very happy. What impresses me about Matt’s clients is that they all have different goals: quality of life, health, getting thinner, getting stronger. Matt is able to help people attain their goals.
Joe
Matt is a trainer who will take the time to understand your personal situation. He has a plan for you, but he doesn’t have a rigid approach. He knows there’s more than one way to reach a goal. If there’s an exercise that’s not right for you, he’s got two or three alternatives ready that will accomplish the same thing, more or less. I can tell he’s been “raising the bar” on his expectations of me and I’m so pleased that my earlier work with him has positioned me to reach new goals.
Matt is big on encouragement. If you want to hire somebody to yell at you, Matt’s not your guy.
I’ve been through many weight-loss efforts. I am very satisfied with my progress at the Fit Zone because I feel that what I am doing is sustainable. I am at the point now that I am disappointed if I’m unable to make a scheduled session. I feel good about my progress. Not only have I lost over 30lbs., I sit, stand and walk differently now because Matt is gradually improving my core strength, and that pays dividends in so many ways – including being able to take on the challenge of my twice-weekly Fit Zone workout!

Matt has been the perfect fit for my fitness needs. When I decided I wanted to take a more serious approach to my body and fitness I started shopping around to see who would be the best fit for me. A co-worker of mine refereed Matt so I went in for an assessment. Once I left that assessment I knew Matt was right for me. Since then Matt has been motivating me to achieve fitness goals I never thought I was capable of achieving. I went to Matt with the intention of gaining muscle and becoming as lean as possible. Since the start (a couple months) I have gained around 10 lbs of muscle and lost around 5 lbs of fat. It has been an amazing experience watching my body grow. Not only has there been physical changes... I feel so much better about everything on a day to day basis and I have Matt to thank for that. SO worth it!!

Matt is a fantastic person with tons of energy and spirit! He has an amazing work ethic and takes alot of pride in what he does! He will challenge you, but also make it fun at the same time! Matt gives lots of encouragement and works hard at bringing out the best in people! He is extremely educated in health and fitness and is an excellent resource for guidance in these areas.

I wanted to take some time to share my story about why I highly recommend Matt Pitzer, and how much of an impact he has had on my life. Matt and I have been training together for about 8
months and his commitment and motivation he brings to his clients is unbelievable. In my personal and professional life I have always been the motivator, but taking care of “me” was always one area where I was not motivated. Since the day I started working with Matt he has been fun, motivating, and an overall support for someone who is looking to become healthier in life. He does a great job of coming up with unique workouts that are fun, challenging, and help hold me accountable to my own success. Even when he is not working directly with his clients and sees them in the gym he is pumping them up, and giving them positive reinforcement for being there. So far I have had quite a bit of success with weight loss but even more important I am healthier, motivated, and am motivating others. I love the fact that the things that Matt are teaching me about nutrition and working out are things that I can do on a day to day basis, and are realistic. It is evident to me that Matt has put a lot of time into understanding these things, so that he can be healthy himself, and help others along that path. If you are looking to become fit, healthy, and have fun, The FitZone is the way to go!

Coworker: “Erin, is it raining outside?”
Me: “No I just got done with Boot camp!”
Boot Camp, is a fun and exciting way to get into shape and shed a few pounds. From running the prairie, doing lunges around “Meridian Lake”, or jumping/flipping tires so big you look like an ant compared to it, this Boot Camp is an awesome workout for any fitness level. Boot Camp is an awesome experience. From the beginning of boot camp to now (1 month in) you can already see people’s fitness levels transforming. Not only is this a great boot camp, but you are also making friends. You have others who want to better themselves there to support you and join you in other fitness activities (Mud Run, Tough Mudder, 5k’s, Half Marathons, the list goes on). I highly recommend this boot camp to anyone who is looking for a good butt kicking and has a sense of adventure! Come try it out, what do you have to lose?

Matt has guided me through a personal training program since July 2011. I’ve lost 30 lbs., gained muscle strength, and improved my overall health. When I started working with Matt, I had been over weight and doing nothing about it for 5 years. I had no motivation. Matt was patient with me and yet knew when and how to push me a little harder. He is creative in the variety of exercises and activities. Matt is naturally gifted to inspire and motivate people. The most surprising and important result of my time with Matt is that I am now running. I never ran, even in childhood, because I tended to trip and fall. My life has been dramatically enriched because of my new capability to run while playing softball and joining my athletic sister on 5k runs! Matt also has great advice on workouts and diet plans. I strongly recommend Matt Pitzer and The FitZone for all who want to work out and see results!

“Today is a rest day and boy do I need it. This morning I slept in an extra hour and when I got out of bed my body felt so tired it was numb. As I woke up, I realized my arms were tired from training last night - that was expected. I am surprised, however, at how non-tired my legs are despite running like the wind and going up those darn hills! I checked my Shuffle time and was so happy I almost started crying. It wasn't a land speed record by any means, but definitely a personal best. I ran at just under an 11 minute pace (awesome for me considering the route) and finished the race in less than 34 minutes! I am so happy I improved! I'm sure a lot of that has to do with training. Today I had my last training. It hasn't really settled in yet that I won’t have any more sessions (at least for the time being - I think in the future I will do this again). The more I think about it, the sadder I am. Yeah, I was working out and it was hard, but I made friends and was pushed hard! It was great! I found out that I could work harder than I knew I could and I gained confidence at the same time. I am so much stronger and trimmer now, I feel great, and am more prepared than ever for my quest to become a marathoner. I really appreciate all the hard work that Ryan and Matt put in to train me (and for putting up with my complaining). It was terrific, and I won’t let you guys down - I will keep up the hard work I promise! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

My comfort zone did NOT include exercise let alone personal training but thanks to Matt Pitzer and TriFit-Fitness my comfort zone has expanded! After spending 40+ years at a sedentary job and doing virtually no exercising I thought I would never be able to walk briskly with my dog again without feeling out of breath. Well, after a few months of exercise and personal training with Matt's guidance and persistence I have been proven wrong. I have not felt this good in forever!
Matt your gentle and persistent encouragement has helped me so much. I am eating (trying to eat) healthier because of you. I have dropped clothing sizes (jeans = 2 sizes). And, I now do brisk walks almost daily plus exercise regularly.
And, all the credit goes to Matt --- Matt, you are a gem. You are professional, dependable, respectful and knowledgeable in your training. I so admire that you continue to pursue gaining more knowledge about training and fitness. For me, you know all the right buttons to push so that I am feeling more comfortable with exercise and personal training; I am finding a comfort zone because of you. Keep up the great work and thank you! Everyone would be lucky to have you for a personal trainer (and, friend).
Thank you, Cathy Donaldson

Paulette S.- Personal Training
Matt Pitzer is personal trainer who knows how to work with people of all ages. I have worked with him nearly a year and it has been a great experience – with great results. My objectives were get more upper body strength, keep my bones strong, and improve my blood pressure and blood sugar numbers. He helped me be successful in all of those.
I also am pleased that Matt listens to me. He has encouraged me to work hard, but is always aware of what might be too much for a woman in her 60s. When I say some exercise is too much, he quickly adjusts the intensity or weights. He plans individual exercises that match what I can do, and varies the type of exercise and its purpose. As a result, I’m getting much stronger in my entire core, not just legs, or certain parts of the arms.
Because he has a college background that had him study anatomy, he has an amazing knowledge of muscle groups and more, and explains exactly what a particular exercise can do. Do I have a weaker right lower back? He develops exercises to make that side stronger. Do I want to get stronger for a hiking trip? He works me harder in the areas I’ll need for a specific trip.
Finally, he is a serious fitness enthusiast and holds a certificate as an ACE Certified Fitness Profession, and he regularly keeps that certificate in force. For all these reasons, I would heartily recommend Matt Pitzer and the fitness club, The FitZone.
